A WORLD OF IMAGINATION: CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY AUCTION
Please join us Saturday, November 23, from 4-8 PM for a fun evening of music, food, desserts and no-host wine and beer; we will have many great silent and live auction items for bidding.
Proceeds from the auction will support local organizations that give assistance to those in need. Some of the organizations we will assist directly this year are: Family Promise, Community Action Emergency Rent Assistance, Care Partners Hospice & Palliative, Adelante Mujeres, and Luke-Dorf Mental Health of Hillsboro, and other ministries of FGUCC. This event has been one of the church’s most successful community fundraisers and we hope this continues. Please consider offering unique, high-quality items, baskets and experience packages. We look forward to your creative contributions! If you have a great idea for a bundled (basket) item, please run your idea past the Items Committee, again headed by Deva Harris-Williams.
If you’ve not volunteered in the past to help before, during or after this event, we’d love to have you join the team. Please email Bonnie McDowell, email@example.com. If you have volunteered in the past, you can expect to be contacted by your committee chair.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. If possible, please bring a check to pay for your prizes, as credit card fees are expensive.
CHILDCARE, including dinner and entertainment, will be provided by the FGUCC Youth Group for a donation of $5 per child. These funds will go toward future youth mission trips.
Art Donations for this year’s auction:
For this year’s auction, we are planning to transform the Learning Community Blue Room into an “art gallery,” and we are requesting art donations for this gallery. They can be an original (maybe created by you or someone you know) or something that was gifted to you that you’d like to now gift to someone else. If you have any questions, please contact Val Donley ( 503-407-1501 or firstname.lastname@example.org)
Auction donations for the wine pull:
We’re asking for donations of wine of our wine pull for this year’s auction. Minimum value of wine $20 per bottle (no maximum.) Also, we’re looking for someone who would be interested in a creative project of decorating the wine bags for our “World of Imagination” theme. Please let us know if you would like to help with this project.
Poetry Raffle for the Auction:
A new item for this year’s auction will be a poetry raffle. We are collecting poems from anyone who is willing to submit them. On any slip of paper write or print out an original poem or one of your favorite poems you would like to share. Everyone can help with this! Bring the poem/s to the church office or give them to Deva Harris Williams, Pastor David or Windi Withycombe. On auction night, for a small donation, anyone can draw out a poem to keep and each poem will also give you a chance to win the “open hands dish” holding the poems. We will look forward to the fun and surprise of drawing a special poem, or several, on auction night!
